Dorian Sjogren of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, was a respected director, mentor, and beloved member of her community whose life was defined by dedication, leadership, and compassion for the people she served. Known for her unwavering commitment to her students and colleagues, Dorian built a legacy that touched countless families over the course of nearly three decades.
Throughout her professional life, Dorian devoted herself to shaping and guiding young people through her role as a director within the JFK organization. She was part of the JFK family for an extraordinary 27 years, with 25 of those years spent serving as a director. Her work was marked by strong leadership, organization, and a genuine love for the students and families she supported. Dorian’s dedication did not go unnoticed. In 2011, she was honored with the Director of the Year award, a recognition of her outstanding contributions and the meaningful impact she made within her program and community.

Her influence reached far beyond the classroom and studio. Students, former students, instructors, and fellow directors remember Dorian not only for her professionalism but for the kindness, encouragement, and guidance she gave to everyone she encountered. Communities in Princeton and Cambridge were especially touched by her work, where she poured her energy and passion into helping families grow and thrive.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Dorian was deeply devoted to her family, whom she considered the most important part of her life. She was a loving partner to Eric and a devoted mother to Eli and Emme. Friends describe her as someone who valued love, connection, and appreciation for the people around her.
After a courageous 11-month battle with cancer, Dorian Sjogren passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, students, and community, but her legacy of compassion, leadership, and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
